Scientific Seven Days - That's me, Rasta!

The Book says my Lord created everything in seven days and if you know anything about God, you know He can do that. He can make universes by sneezing if He so desired.

Science and right thinking reason, however, insist that creation had to take billions of years. Ironically, science confesses that the expansion of the universe from an infinitesimally small and dense singularity into the approximate giant it remains today took about a moment. It’s the cooling down, the traveling of light, the transformation of gases into heavier matter, the ordering of galaxies and systems and the sparking and evolution of life that took for-fucking-ever.

Um, yes, of course I see it now....It's so self-explanatory. Not!

As a good free-thinking Biblically-bred Ras-ventist heretic rationalist (and you still haven’t heard the half of it), I have struggled to reason out the differences between what God says in the Bible and what He says in nature. Questions about gays and black holes and hell and of course, if we are to start at the beginning, Creation.

Did it take seven literal days or did it take jafrillions of years?

This is my current conclusion:

If men had a hand in the writing of the Bible but only God hands wrote the starlight from distant galaxies, who am I supposed to believe literally, the Book or the starlight?

The question answers itself.

I believe in God.

I think atheism is unproveable, unreasonable and illogical egotism. Agnosticism is way more honest and reasonable. Deism doesn’t have to follow these rules. We who know God only know because we believe. You, the poor atheist philistine heathen, cannot know, because you do not first believe.

Rules bend to our God’s will. The immutable laws of nature are tattooed on the soulskinDNA of the universe by His hand. Gravity is His handmaiden and physics is his bitch.

God appeals to me on many levels, but is most appealing as a reasonable God, who made the universe in a way that teaches us and encourages our growth, rather than as a God who requires our unthinking devotion and worship.

But even if God was a tyrant, I am still rather enthralled by the idea that I become more myself, more what I am capable of being by submission to His Will. Considering the mind-boggling factors of chance and fate that a human is subjected to in a godless world, even a tyrant God who doesn't really exists has broad market appeal.

One might also notice that atheists tend to be well-off people, never sufferers, but rather men who are vain enough to imagine that they got to where they are by their own volition, momentum, intelligence. Men who suffer tend to hear God’s Voice better and reason out His existence, enjoy His mercy and grace and be lifted up by His Hope. Rich boys think it's something special  about themselves that causes success

Atheists are dumb. They haven’t fully thought this thing through.

And if there’s one thing God hates, it’s someone who hasn’t fully thought it through.

I’ve thought it through, Lord.

There is no fighting with the speed of light and what it tells us about cosmic distances and the age of the space we inhabit. In order to fight it, you have to remain ignorant of it. There's no fighting with what God tells us in His own language,  the language of light, physics and math.

I love the Bible. But I’m no preacher’s sucker or patsy.  I believe what God says more than I could ever believe what some guys translated from Hebrew and Greek, edited up and down and then blamed on The Most High. I believe the starlight.

Shhh...God is talking. He's speaking in starlight. Let them who have ears hear...
